The New Journeys Project
Through a unique collaboration of health care, higher education, and technology, this project will deliver a virtual reality game distraction program for pain management to kids who are hospitalized.  Children from local schools will have the opportunity to be contributing partners and will get an 'inside' view of how medical technologies are developed, tested, and introduced into the world of health care.

This first hand experience with medical scientists, health care practitioners, and expert technologists will teach goal setting, project management, computer science, and graphic art while exploring how medical, technological, and research disciplines collaborate.

PC2Earth Program

This innovative project will provide a structured, experiential program teaching kids about various facets of electronics, assembly, computer science, and the environment in the wake of a technological tidalwave.

PC2Earth will recycle and refurbish retired personal computers, monitors, and accessories, and donate renewed, bundled systems to low income families.

Cyber-Ed Program

In the fall '99 semester, Grand Rapids Central High, Union High, and Lowell High School students began experiencing a new, uncommon learning experience through a unique computer game competition. This enriching experience is made possible by the generosity of George Lucas’s Lucas Learning Ltd. Of San Rafael, California, and US Interactive of Los Angeles, California.

To begin the competition, six state-of-the-art computers complete with the Lucas Learning DroidWorks educational games were launched into play at these area high schools. Competing teams of kids working at each computer are using the DroidWorks games to build many new robot droids in an effort to accomplish eight challenging missions in a Star Wars environment. Through the use of these custom built droids, the missions are providing students with a unique opportunity to discover and explore many facets of the laws of nature.

Each team has given a report at the end of the first period.   Another report  was given following the second period segment of the program.  At the end of the semester, exciting technological prizes will be awarded including new personal computers from GPC Computers, application training certificates courtesy of Productivity Point International, Grand Rapids, and many other great prizes.  Click below to see more ...
